Looking for the “best home based business”, or a legitimate way to make money from home? You’re not alone. In fact, nearly 1000 people every single day are typing in “make money from home” into Google, Yahoo and Bing. Everyone dreams of getting out of the rat-race, yet very few actually become successful entrepreneurs. Well, being that I earn $1000’s of dollars each month from home, and struggled profusely to get to where I am now, I feel somewhat qualified to answer this question. I believe it really lies in persistence, and also having a GREAT system in place. For example, when I first got started working from home, I joined an MLM company. If you’re not familiar, MLM stands for multi-level marketing, and is essentially centered on the idea of ‘word of mouth marketing.’ The only ‘system’ that was really in place for me to start my business was to talk to as many people that I could talk to and tell them about my business opportunity in effort to recruit them. Here’s the problem: I was 20 years old, with no influence or business experience. And anyone I told about my ‘business opportunity’ practically laughed at me. Several people encounter the same thing when trying to start out in multi-level marketing, whether they are 20 years old or not, but nonetheless, the ‘system’ was pretty crappy there, hence, I made no money.
The next thing I tried was an affiliate marketing product. Affiliate marketing is essentially selling other peoples products and earning commissions as payment for doing so. I actually initially got involved with affiliate marketing in order to build the initial MLM I had been involved with, and here’s what happened: they had a better system in place for selling, and also a decent training platform in place – so I was able to make SOME sales. In fact, I eventually became top 25 selling that product out of over 20,000 marketers. However, the system still wasn’t GREAT. I had to create many of my own sales funnels because theirs were not very high converting. I had to learn a lot of technical skills and website building. I was taught to start from scratch building websites, rather than drive traffic through sites that were already popular. And to be frank with you, I was taught a lot of conflicting information that really confused the heck out of me. So why did I make money? Honestly, the answer here is persistence. This particular affiliate product has about the same failure rate as traditional MLM products that have practically no system in place at all. The only difference here, is that I was determined to make something work, and therefore I made it work, to an extent. As a top 25 producer, I still only made about $2000 per month, which I now look at as peanuts.
My next (and current) ‘make money from home’ effort has allowed me to put all the pieces together and realize why I’ve struggled so much in the past. And as I mentioned, I was using crappy systems. So this product, another affiliate marketing product, deposited more than $5000 into my bank account in my first two weeks marketing it (which was more than I made in two months marketing my previous product). What is the difference that makes ALL the difference? This time, the sales funnel converts so I don’t need to create my own videos. There is a marketing system in place to drive traffic so I don’t need to figure out my own marketing and traffic generation. Rather than earning 20% of each sale I make I earn 100% of the sale, allowing me to re-invest profits into business building, and scale out faster. THAT is the difference that makes all the difference.
